T692 T854 MHD.XH9s.1&2&3 MHD.XH9a - - pu TAP
· In many respects this resembles an upside-down CHAN = “sky”. · The subtle aspects where it differs are: o The (upside-down) U in pu is not lipped, and is more or less just a standard (bold) U (though one might argue that MC and K&H examples actually do have a lipped-U, with bolding of one part). o The U has a dotted spine.(never present in CHAN = “sky”). § In some examples (T692, MHD.XH9s.1&2, MHD.XH9s), the dots are not just a dotted spine inside some bolding, but in fact even become the top of the outline of the glyph itself (and there is no more “upside-down” U). § In T854, the dotted spine is replaced by alternating ticks and tiny dots. o The two “pillars” tend to be curved (whereas they tend to be straight or can be at an angle or have crossed bands in between) in CHAN = “sky”. · MHD also gives a logogram reading for this glyph of TAP.
